Lightroom Desktop Colour Mixer not working properly

Since updating a couple of weeks ago to Lightroom Desktop version 8.4 the Colour Mixer no longer works properly.

Immediately after launching, as long as I do not use other editing, the Colour Mixer works fine. But when I start using other editing tools, the colour mixer stops working after a number of edits (particularly after using masks). All other editing tools work fine. Just not the Colour Mixer any more.

The only solution I have found is to close down and restart Lightroom Desktop.

However this is exceedingly time consuming as I have to restart Lightroom Desktop at least once, sometimes two or three times per photograph.

Switching off the GPU acceleration seems to make no difference.

I have not yet managed to find exactly what sequence / type of editing causes my Colour Mixer to stop working.

Any ideas anybody?

I am using a MacBook Pro with M1 Max, 64 GB memory and Sequioia 15.6.

Hi @Pyers Tucker, thanks for reaching out!

As a first step, could you try resetting the preferences in Photoshop? That often clears up any odd behavior. Here’s how to do it: https://adobe.ly/45xZccy

If that doesn’t do the trick, would you be able to share a quick screen recording of the issue? That would really help us take a closer look and figure out what’s going on.

Thanks so much!

Hi @Aleke ,

Thank you for your advice to reset my Lightroom Desktop preferences.

I did that two days ago and my Colour Mixer has worked fine since then. So all good!

One additional point: while my Colour Mixer was still playing up, I found that reducing just the Colour panel (eg click the down arrow, so it minimises the panel) and then re-opening it also reset the Colour Mixer - and was much quicker than having to close down and restart Lightroom Desktop.
Thank you, much appreciate your prompt response and advice.
