Lightroom does not recognize photos in external drive

Lightroom 5.2

Macbook Pro - Monterey 12.3

All of my photos are on an external drive. Since upgrading my mac to Monterey 12.3, Lightroom does not recognize photos or folders on any of my external drives. (Photoshop does recognize photos/folders, my computer also does, so it is not the drive itself.)

Lightroom does recognize photos on my desktop computer.

In Lightroom, in Library mode, on the image, there is not the ! to indicate the photo is missing. (It is on others that I know are missing.)  When I switch to Develope it says "File Could Not Be Found."

When I click on import, Lightroom does see the external drive, but does not show anything in it.

Please Help!!!

Can you post a screen shot of your import window? Have you given Lightroom Full Disk Permission in your system preferences > security and privacy tab? If you can't see folders / photos check this article to see if you are missing a step if permissions aren't the problem. https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom-cc/using/add-photos.html#:~:text=Click%20icon%20at%20the%20upper,review%20before%20adding%20to%20Lightroom.

"Lightroom 5.2   .....All of my photos are on an external drive."

Not sure I understand your question.

v5.2 of Lightroom stores all your photos in the Adobe Cloud.

Confirm the exact version of "Lightroom" you have by posting a screen-clip of MENU: Help > System Info...

v5.2 of Lightroom does not indicate 'Missing' photos with an [ ! ]. That is a Lightroom-Classic feature.

Regards. My System: Windows-11, Lightroom-Classic 15.1.1, Photoshop 27.3.1, ACR 18.1.1, Lightroom 9.0, Lr-iOS 10.4.0, Bridge 16.0.2 .

All is good! It was a disk permission issue, which Apple must have changed when I upgraded my Mac to Monterey.

The problem was with LrC.

Lightroom & Photoshop can see the folders.

I've been working in LrC for a couple of years, no problem until I Upgraded my Mac to Monterey. It worked the day before.

I checked Security/Privacy and gave LRC Full Disk Access and that Worked!! But it says it now "Allows the the app access to data like Mail, Messages, Safari, Home, Time Machine backups, and certain administratve settings for all users on this Mac"

Is that safe?

Thanks for your help!

Yes. It is safe. It allows you to e-mail and  do other tasks from within Lightroom.
