Question

Lightroom "forgets" crop, edits, denoise issues

I have to use Lightroom very often to batch edit many photos for my photography business. There are some bugs that make keeping up with deadlines very difficult.

1. After cropping an image, Lightroom will "forget" the crop and revert back to the original crop

2. After using Remove tool, lightroom will also "forget" and my export will be without my Remove edit

3. Batch "Denoise" is very slow and faulty. After using Denoise on multiple photos (10+) previews will appear pink and distorted on most of the renders, and I have to re-render.

I have a few ideas for improvements too.

1. I often have an issue with knowing if my edit's white point is properly exposed. Is there a tool we can get that can help us know that the final image is properly exposed?

Hi @loreleirubik,

Sorry for the delayed response.  I can see how disruptive it must be for your workflow when edits don’t persist as expected. Let’s break this down:

  • Crop and Remove edits reverting

    • Please confirm if this happens only after export, or also while you are still in Develop.

    • Check if “Save metadata to XMP” is enabled under Catalog Settings > Metadata. If it is, try disabling it temporarily (or vice versa) and see if the behavior changes.

    • Also, please try resetting your Lightroom preferences. All you need to do is hold down Opt and Shift while opening Lightroom. You’ll be asked whether to reset the preferences.

  • Batch Denoise is producing pink/distorted previews: This is a known area we’re monitoring. I came across a thread where this has already been logged with engineering: https://adobe.ly/46RZjBu

I’d ecommend posting the ideas in our Lightroom Ideas board so the product team can track it: https://adobe.ly/4nLgbQ7

Best,
