Lightroom freezes for 5 seconds repeatedly

Hey so lightroom used to work just fine a couple days ago and suddenly the whole application just freezes every like 5 seconds, i cant edit like this, i have to wait untill it unfreezes and then after a couple seconds it freezes again,
specs are:
7900xtx
i7-14700k
2tb Gen5 ssd
32GB DDR5 RAM 6400mhz cl36

this has gotten so frustrating that i just gave up, my drivers are up to date including bios, gpu,adobe,cpu.
literally everything is up to date no viruses on my pc as well, any advice would be awesome 🙂

I have the same problem. LR freezes during more than 5 seconds on my desc side computer. Win11, 64 GB memory, 1Gbit/s fiber. LR is version 8.4. I have a NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 videocard with 12 GB memory. I use a OnePlus 13 as camera and the pictures are in JPG-format and about 4 to 12 MB in size.

I can add that I tried the same photos on my laptop and it works perfectly. Same OS, 32 GB memory, same fiber, same version of LR. Both PC´s have the latest upgrades of Win11.

When you get a chance, could you share your System Info from Lightroom? That’ll help us get a better idea of how the app is interacting with your system. You can find it by going to Help > System Info in Lightroom. Just copy the info into a text file and attach it to your reply, or feel free to share it via Google Drive, WeTransfer, or any other file-sharing service you prefer.

Sorry to hear Lightroom isn’t behaving as it should — I totally get how frustrating that can be.

Just to help us get a better idea of what’s going on, could you let us know which version of Lightroom you’re using? Also, does the freezing happen when you’re using a specific tool or working with certain images?

If you haven’t already, a good first step is to try uninstalling and reinstalling the app. If that doesn’t do the trick, the next thing to try would be resetting Lightroom’s preferences to bring everything back to default. As long as your work is synced to the cloud, you shouldn’t lose anything.
