Lightroom GPU issue – “The graphics processor has encountered an unrecoverable error” (GPU detected but not used)

Hello,

I’m experiencing a serious performance issue in Adobe Lightroom and I’m trying to understand what might be causing it.

My computer correctly detects my NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5060 Ti in Windows and in Device Manager, and there are no warning icons or errors. The driver installs normally and appears to be installed correctly.

However, Lightroom shows the message:
“The graphics processor has encountered an unrecoverable error.”

Because of this, Lightroom runs very slowly:

- the CPU frequently reaches 90–100%
- the GPU usage stays around 0–1%
- the application has noticeable lag and sometimes freezes

Things I have tried so far:

- reinstalling the NVIDIA driver
- installing the latest driver (596.36) with a clean installation
- restarting the system
- checking the GPU settings in Lightroom (Use Graphics Processor set to Auto)
- verifying in Task Manager and Device Manager that the GPU is detected correctly

The problem remains the same: Windows detects the graphics card and the driver appears to be installed correctly, but Lightroom does not seem to use the GPU properly.

If anyone has experienced a similar issue or knows what might cause this error, I would greatly appreciate any advice or suggestions. Thank you!
