This means that your library previews are corrupted, and you have to delete them.

Using the File explorer or Finder, go to the folder that contains your Lightroom catalog, usually a folder named Lightroom Catalog inside the Pictures folder under your user name.

Delete the folder (may display as a file on Mac) whose name ends with Previews.lrdata. Do not delete anything else.

Now launch Lightroom, which will rebuild the previews as you browse the folders.
