Question

Lightroom Images should not be saved in the same album of th import files

I import my images using Sonys Creators App. I edit them using Lighroom, and afterwards i usually wanna get rid of the raw files on my phone again. Unfortunately, i can't store them all. Even with a lot of storage. So i tried to delete them from the Creators folder until i recently realized, that this also deleted all images i exported using lightroom.
therefore i need: An option to export files in another album, Lightroom only, that does not link back into the Creators App album.
Please add such an app option asap. It slows my workflow down drastically and causes data loss for me.

Hi @KiaKai ,

Thanks for reaching out. When exporting files from Lightroom on iPhone, you can choose Export As and then select or create a new folder in the Files app. Saving exports this way keeps them separate from the original import album (such as the Sony Creators App folder) and prevents them from being deleted when you remove the original RAW files from Photos.

Let us know if that helps, or if you need any further details.

Regards,

Srishti

Sorry, this was not helpful at all. I don't wanna be personal, but I feel like you are an android user.. iPhone works different. Completely unintuitive.

On iPhone the gallery isn't based upon accessible folders within the file browser, but on albums not accessibly by the file browser. Saving them as files means they are not longer visible within the foto gallery.

So you got only an option to change the filename pattern in the export settings of Lightroom for iPhone, but absolutely no option to change the assigned album within this app. If you see it differently, please provide guiding screenshots from an iPhone.

Hi @KiaKai,

Thank you for clarifying. I understand that exporting to the Files app is an inconvenient workaround when you need your finished edits to remain accessible inside the iOS Photos app.

To make sure I’m aligned with your request, here’s what you’re looking for:

• A direct “Export to specific Photos album” option in Lightroom on the iPhone

• This would prevent edited JPEGs from being placed back into the Sony Creators App album

• This would avoid accidental data loss when deleting RAW files from that album

Your feedback is valid, and I’ll be sharing this request with the product team.

The only safe workarounds today are:

• Export to the Files app, which keeps the images fully separate

• Or manually move exported photos to a different Photos album before deleting the originals

I agree this is not ideal, especially when working with limited storage and a fast mobile workflow.

To help us move this forward properly, could you please share a short screen recording that shows:

• How images are imported from the Sony Creators App

• How you export from Lightroom

• Where the exported images appear in the Photos app

• Delete the images and showcase how they disappear, leading to data loss

Once shared, we can forward this directly to the product team to clearly demonstrate the workflow gap and data loss risk you’re highlighting.

Thanks again for explaining this so clearly.

Best regards,

Anshul Saini
