Lightroom issues

Hi! I've been having a problem with lightroom for a few weeks now and simply don't know what to do about it.

I've been editing on Lightroom for years now, on my laptop with an external hard drive. A few months ago now that laptop unexpectedly broke. Since then, I've been using a new one and after downloading lightroom, connecting my old external hard drive and logging into the same account I've discovered all my photos and most of my downloaded presets are gone. I'm hoping there's an easy solution to this. If anyone can help, please let me know!

Your post raises several questions-"editing on Lightroom for years"- How many years?What version of "Lightroom" do you have?  Old Perpetual Lr6, Lightroom-Desktop, Lightroom-Classic, Lr-mobile, etc.."logging into the same account"- What type of Adobe subscripton do you have?What Version NUMBER is your Lightroom?Where do you have backups of your photo files?Do you have backups of your Presets?Do you use Mac Time Machine? ( a topic for Mac users) Only with detailed information can you expect answers to assist.
