Lightroom Keeps Freezing

Lightroom is suddenly freezing and not responding. I don't know if this is because of a bug from the new update today, but it wasn't acting like this two days ago. I unloaded a couple hundred photos, closed other apps that might be using too much memory or GPU, and I troubleshooted my RAM to find any issues. Nothing was wrong, but Lightroom keeps freezing. I keep having to force close the app through Task Manager. Any help?

Hey, have you managed to solve this ? It really annoys me and I can't do anything about it.

Well, it's not happening now, so maybe the last update fixed it for me.

Similar problem for me. Today I opened LrC after the December update, and when I start clicking through previously imported folders on the left, the app freezes. I'm not importing, just browsing through my folders. I can't work.

Hey, @Harryscopic. Welcome to the Lightroom Community. The original post is about Lightroom & the attached system info is from Lightroom Classic.

Where do you keep the original images, internal, or external drive? As primary steps, try this:

Let me know how it goes. Thanks!

@Sameer K  Thanks for your response.

My photos are in an internal drive. I checked the post you mentioned, and my settings are similar or lighter and shouldn't cause stress on the processors.
I hope the next update fixes the issue.

Hey, @edgar_7328. Welcome to the Lightroom Community. I'll need more info to help you figure this out.

Please share the system info from Lightroom by going to Help > System info, Copying and pasting it into a text document, and Uploading It and attaching it here.

Have you recently updated the OS? If you're on Lightroom - is Sync enabled?

If you're on Lightroom Classic - Where do you keep your Lightroom catalog & the original images, internal, or external drive?

As primary steps, try this:

  • Unplug additional displays & use only one by default.
  • Go to Edit > Preferences > Performance > Use Graphics Processor > Set it off if it is on Custom or Auto. If this shows any differences, please check this article to troubleshoot further: https://adobe.ly/3uYiJo4.

Let me know how it goes. Thanks!
