Lightroom mobile photos disappeared

Today I was out for a hike and took some photos with the Lightroom Mobile camera on my iPhone so I could use raw and control settings and because the iPhone built-in camera app is awful. When I got home I went to look at the photos in the Lightroom mobile app and they are nowhere to be found. They are not anywhere in the Device tab nor the Lightroom tab. If I take a photo now at home with the Lightroom mobile camera, it shows up in the Lightroom tab under All Photos, but the photos I took in the field are not there. I also logged into my Creative Cloud account on my computer and they have not appeared there either. They do not seem to have been saved. Is this maybe because I did not have cell service at the time so they were not synced? Is there somewhere they might be temporarily stored on the phone like in a cache somewhere? Why would you need cell service to take a photo? Is there a way to prevent this from happening again? I have zero interest in syncing or cloud storage. I just want to be able to use the Lightroom Mobile camera that I am paying for to take a photo that is stored on my phone.
