Lightroom Mobile Photos Gone

Today I went to check my Lightroom Mobile photos synced to the Adobe cloud but couldn't get the Mac app to connect (it continuously said "waiting for connection"). I went to my iPad to check the photos from there and it told me I had no collections. I went over to my iPhone's LR Mobile app and when it first opened, all of my collections were there. Then it went to a loading screen and when it came back it said I had no collections. I had hundreds of pictures synced to the cloud so this is both incredibly frustrating and terrifying. Is this just a connection issue or did all of my photos some how get deleted?

Correct answer greule

Did you connect a new Lr Desktop catalog to your account? Since Lr Mobile currently only supports one catalog at a time the previous connected catalog will be purged. In that case you should have recieved a caution allert within Lr Desktop. - Guido

I am having a problem with deleted images from Lightroom Mobile. I am using LRM on a Samsung tablet version 5.3.  I do not have a subscription to Lightroom CC or Classic.  I am using the free Adobe Cloud storage account. During an overnight sync, I woke to find 300+ photos have been deleted from my Lighroom mobile app on my Samsung tablet.  I now show 862 images in my All Photos on Lightroom Mobile but started with over 1000+ before the sync.  I also had 108 images in Deleted folder which is correct.

When I log into lightroom.adobe.com, I can see 507 successful images synced in All Photos, 400+ images in Deleted, and 300+ in Sync Issues.  All thumbnails for the images were broken so I can't see which images are in Deleted or Sync Issues.  So I clicked "restore all" on Deleted folder.  All 400+ went to Sync Issues folder.   I started the sync again, and 300+ were moved back to Deleted folder in lightroom.adobe.com so I stopped the sync.  In Lightroom mobile, my Deleted folder went from 108 to 0 and deleted images are now appearing in All Photos after restarting the sync.

Why are some photos syncing properly without being deleted from my tablet while others are being deleted and not synced at all?  The originals are no longer even stored on my tablet device in the data folders.  The data folders are empty.  Can these deleted photos be recovered?  It appears the sync deleted them off my tablet and put them in a Deleted folder and is not syncing them.  Please help.

Hi,

I think this just happened to me as I got a new phone and had to re-install my presets and created a new album and now my old almbum with all photos are gone. Can you assist me in getting them back please?

Hello Pokkelokkie,

I see you are using the free version of the app.  Photos and presets for free users exist only on the one device, and do not sync to other devices like your new phone.  Sync is a paid, premium feature.

Now, if you made a backup of your original phone, and restored that backup to your new phone, then the same photos and presets should have transfered to your new phone.

Also, if your device is an iPhone, then this advice may be able to help you recover photos: https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom/kb/recover-lightroom-mobile-photos-itunes-file-sharing.html

Hi, I have been using lightroom mobile (free version) for the past few weeks. I have been taking and uploading photos, editing them and all. Today I log out of my account and when I logged back in all my photos were gone! Trying to get them back somehow I ended up with a trial version of Premium LR but no photos at all.

A little help would be appreciated.

Thank you!

I have a similar issue. My photos and presets deleted when I deleted the app. Now that it has been redownloaded everything from my account is gone.

Free use versions of Lightroom do not sync photos or presets to cloud storage, so when app is deleted all its local-only files are removed too.

If you have an iTunes backup of your device from a time when you could still see your photos, try restoring that backup onto your device.  Then, follow the steps on this Help article to see if iTunes can help you recover any photos Lightroom had.  https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom-classic/kb/recover-lightroom-mobile-photos-itunes-file-sharing.html

Unfortunately this won't be able to recover your presets or any edits you applied to your photos.  Still I hope this innfo helps a bit.

I had the free version of lightroom mobile and deleted and redownloaded it, wrongly expecting all of my photos and edits to remain. Can a support team member please recover the edited photos for me?

Hi 'maskm38696852'

I'm going to send you a direct message -- please look for it soon.

Sharing advice here, in case it helps other users:

None of the accounts you shared has any synced photos or paid subscription, which indicates your photos were only stored on your local device.

I'm not sure which kind of device you use, iOS or Android. If you are on iOS, it may be possible to recover some images using the info at: https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom-classic/kb/recover-lightroom-mobile-photos-itunes-file-sharing.html

This method helps best as long as you have not uninstalled the app. If you did uninstall the app, and then reinstalled it, then there will be no photos to recover. However, if you have a recent iTunes backup of your device, then you could try restoring that backup onto your device and then see if the steps in the page above can help you recover any images.

Hope this helps!

Dear Charile,

Thanks for your reply. I Use iOS, however, everytime I try to recover
photos via iTunes - I have this error. I have 4 GB of photos that I can't
now copy or view and the folder is still visible, but I can't access it .
Very sad. Any chance to help?

Hi 'elbie boutique'

I see a Lightroom Mobile Premium subscription registered to the same email address you used to post on the forums here.  However, this does not grant use of Lightrooom Classic other than trying out Classic as a free trial.

If you have a separate subscription that does allow you to use Lightroom Classic, be sure to sign into Lightroom Mobile using the same email ID you use on the desktop.   In this case, you probably also should cancel the Mobile Premium subscription through your iOS iTunes & App Store subscription settings, and contact Apple for a refund.

If you need additional help, please write back.

Hi,

we need her to let us know who she is, the best thing would be if she could either post something in this thread or if you send me some information about her in a private message.

Thanks,

Hello! I just had the same problem! I have been using the Lightroom app with no issues since April, I bought a pack of presets from Loki the Wolfdog and I love them! I just tried using the desktop version today and now all of my photos and all of my presets are completely GONE. Please let me know if you can help me recover them! I spent a lot of time and money on creating presets and received no warning that trying the desktop version would delete all my stuff from everything!

Today I got home and tried to sync them to lightroom on my desktop to no avail so I decided to log out of my lightroom mobile account and back in. When I logged back in all my photos were gone! Any help much appreciated!!

Thank you,

Whilst my 249n photos taken on Lightroom mobile were being rendered, they all just vanished from my mobile and the file isn't on my iMac either?
