Question

LIghtroom ( NOT Lightroom Classic ) - How do set sRGB as default colour gamut?

Hi,

I don't think this is possible, but can I set Lightroom to use sRGB colour gamut for editing? I know I can export a jpeg in sRGB. But my problem is that Windows 10 and my monitor are using sRGB. I use use Windows Photos to view my picture before editing as it's quick and convinient to do so, I can then make a list of the photos to keep for editing ( I know all of this could be done in LR, but it's not as quick or convinient ). When I load a photo into Lightroom for editing the colours are different and to tell the truth, the colours I'm seeing in Windows Photos are more more pleasing and closer to the colours in camera ( Canon 5D classic ).

My hardware:

Windows 10 PC, GeForce GTX 1050ti, 24Gb RAM, AMD Ryzen 5 5600x

Philips 328B Monitor

Lightroom ecosystem (Cloud-based) Version 7.3

Many Thanks,

Nick.

If I'm understanding you correctly, it's not the color space that's the problem. I'm guessing you're shooting raw, since you mention that the photos in Windows looks more like the camera. If I'm right, the difference you're seeing is simply that Windows is showing you the preview embedded by the camera, which was processed by Canon, whereas Lightroom is showing you the raw data processed by Adobe's raw engine. You might consider changing the Raw Defaults setting in Preferences > Import to Camera Settings, so that Adobe's raw processing is closer to Canon's look.

Hello Victoria,

Well that is interesting ! I did change the the Profile settings for my photo to "Camera Standard". But, I have applied your settings too for future work. At least now I don't need to remember to manually set the Profile each time I start an edit.

Many Thanks,

Nick.
