Lightroom not recognizing my 6d anymore?

Like the title says, after years of using LR,  for some reason my camera does not show up as an import option.  I plugged the sd card right into the computer directly and LR recognized it as an "EOS digital device" but would not recognize the images or import them. 

Apple photo however does recognize the camera and card so I know it's not a connection issue.  

Needless to say it's super frustrating.  

Any insight  would be greatly apprieciated. 

Per forum instructions:

LR is up to date as far as I know.  

On a mac desktop that is also up to date.  

I plug the camera in and it does not show up.
