Question

Lightroom Photos Randomly Disappear from Library Without a Trace

Hello, I'm really confused as to what's happening. Seemingly photos have just been disappearing from my lightroom library. They're not listed as missing, there's just no trace of them. This happens sometime after I've exported them as j-pegs. I'll export a whole group and it will only be one or two that completely disapppear as if they were never imported as RAW files. I'm worried I'm going to one day lose an important photo I'll need to re-edit so I'd appreciate any advice!

Hey, @Claire28484912stad. Welcome to the Lightroom Community. I'll need more info to help you figure this out.

What version of Lightroom & the macOS are you working on? What troubleshooting steps have you tried already? Does it happen with RAW images or JPEG? Is there a noticeable pattern to this behavior?

In Adobe Lightroom, please share the screenshot of the options below from Preferences.

Try these steps:

  • Create a test album in Lightroom.
  • Export images from this album and check the count from this album.

Let me know how it goes. Thanks!

Thank you for your reply. I am on MacOS Catalina 10.15.7 using the LightRoom from Adobe creative cloud. I only import RAW images and the way they have been disappearing seems very random to me, but it's happpened multiple times now. I'll go back to the library and one or two photos I've exported succesfully as jpeg are no longer in the library.  Thank you. Sorry the preferences are in french, hopefully the screenshot still helps!
