Lightroom Shared Album Resolution

Is there a reason Flickr can show full resolution photos in shared albums but Lightroom compresses theirs to 2048 pixels on the long edge? If can understand why Facebook and IG do it as they are primarily social media sites, but isn't Lightroom primarily for photography? Yes, I know people can download them for the higher res photo, but that's not the point. They look awful when viewed on a 4k screen which is really making me consider storing my photos for sharing elsewhere.
