Lightroom shows time +1 hour wrong

I have Panasonic Lumix S9 and Lightroom on Samsung mobilephone. I use Lumix Lab to import raw files into mobilephone and thenI import raws into Lightroom. On Lumix Lab, On Samsung Gallery, on EXIF reader time is 8:48. But on Lightroom time is 9:48. So, one plus more. I live in Finland and we have that daylight savings stuff. Is that the reason LR shows time wrong but everything else shows it correctly? Nikon and Fujifilm raws are imported correctly.

Hello. Yes, you are correct I think. Lumix S9 has three settings for time. Basic datetime, Timezone and Daylight Savings setting. I was, wrongly, fixing time using Daylight Saving. Thus it looked correctly everywhete except LR. Today I set up 1) time 2) timezone and 3) daylight setting. +1 hour off. Then I edited time not daylight savings setting. Now time is correct everywhere. I messed up with Daylight Savings settibgs because it wasn't clear, to me, when it was set on or off. Also you don't usually need to edit that specific setting. With Lumux S9 it needs to be set, correctly. Now, finally everything is correct. Thank you for your time and effort. Hope this helps the next person 😅

Hi @Kauko1, Thanks for the detailed ExifTool output — it's very helpful. Your .rw2 files don't include a timezone offset tag (OffsetTimeOriginal), so Lightroom has to guess your timezone, and it's misapplying Daylight Saving Time, adding +1 hour. Other apps display the timestamp as-is, which is why they show the correct time.

    • To confirm, could you run this and share the output?
    • exiftool -time:all -G1 -a -s P1000651.rw2
    • Try embedding the timezone before importing:
    • exiftool -OffsetTimeOriginal="+03:00" -OffsetTimeDigitized="+03:00" *.rw2
    • This tells Lightroom your photos were taken in EEST (UTC+3), so it won't guess wrong.

In Lightroom, you can select the affected photos and use Edit Capture Time to shift by 1 hour. Also worth checking: on your Lumix S9, make sure the Daylight Saving Time toggle is set to ON in the clock settings (it's separate from the timezone setting).

This was an issue in the past. Please let us know what you find, and we can continue troubleshooting. I hope this helps! ^CH

Hi @Kauko1, Welcome to the Lightroom Community Forum! Let's try a few things to see if we can fix the timestamps.

    1. Check Time Zone Settings: Ensure that the time zone settings on your Android device are correctly set to match your local time in Finland. This includes verifying that the device is set to adjust for daylight saving time automatically.

    2. Review Lightroom Settings: In Lightroom, check if there are any settings related to time display or daylight saving adjustments.

    3. Test with Other Files: If possible, import additional raw files from the Panasonic Lumix S9 to see if the issue persists. This can help determine if it's a one-time import issue or a consistent problem.

If none of these steps work for you, let us know, and we can continue troubleshooting. I hope this helps! ^CH
