Lightroom won’t read DEF image format

Cannot import images from a Sony XQD card into Lightroom. Image format was shot as DEF and camera body was shot w Nikon D850. I do not want to convert the DEF to a JPG because image quality is a grainy mess, tried that. Is there something I am doing wrong upon import. Looks like Lightroom is not recognizing the images.heeeeelllllllp
