Question

LR 6 to LR CC

I'm using LR 6 since some years. Now I want to change to the Creative Cloud Solution 20 GB and have some questions:

Can I use my LR 6 calalogue in LR CC? I don't think so. What should I do with my (old) photos?

Is it possible to work with LR CC without the Cloud? Can I save my files on my HD which is back upped by a storage?

Is LR CC for a desktop the not so extensive version?

Thanks for your help!

Rudi

It sound like you are confused between Lightroom CC and Lightroom Classic. Lightroom Classic is the latest version of the Lightroom you know. Lightroom CC is another application, which stores the images in the cloud.

The Creative Cloud Solution with 20 GB is not a Lightroom CC plan (even if it does include that app, just to test it), but a Lightroom Classic plan. You can simply upgrade your Lightroom 6 catalog by opening it in Lightroom Classic. An upgraded copy of the catalog will be made, so your old catalog will remain untouched. You can work in Lightroom Classic without using the cloud.

If you really want to start using Lightroom CC, then you won't have enough cloud space with the 20 GB solution. You will need to get the Lightroom CC + 1 GB cloud space plan, which does not include Lightroom Classic nor Photoshop.

    Thanks a lot Johan,

but I can't find a menu item to embed the Lightroom catalog.lrcat to take them all (folders, files, ...) - or is it not possible?

    Kind regards

I don’t understand your question, and I don‘t know which Lightroom you are talking about. What do you mean with ‘embed’ the catalog? And what version of Lightroom? As I explained, there are two different versions...
