Just open crop on first image. Stretch it. Sync All Files to Crop! Done.

Same issue... tried deleting the app and re-downloading and didn't work. Reached out to tech support, useless. Cancelled for now as I shoot most in 16:9...

If you don't use any presets at import try is to reset the preferences to the default settings.

Reset Procedure:

  • Close Lightroom.
  • Windows: Hold down [Alt]+[Shift] while restarting Lightroom.
Mac: Hold down [Opt]+[Shift] while restarting Lightroom.
  • Overwrite the Preferences when prompted by the dialog.
  • Close Lightroom.
  • Restart Lightroom.

It's recommended to backup your preferences before you reset the preferences to the default settings:

Which number version of Lightroom?

Are you using any dev presets during the import that might have cropping turned on?

Try updating the app to the latest version (8.1.1), then try again. I've just tested on my old iPhone8+ and when I select the 16x9 aspect ratio the image is added to LrM and displays in that 16x9 format. Of course, because the iPhone's native resolution is the larger 4x3, the "Original" aspect ratio is still available to select in the crop tool if I want it.
