When you edit or import an image from the device camera roll, the original image gets copied into the Lightroom Mobile app cache.

Paid subscribers see such images sync to cloud storage, and after sync these images can be cleared from the app cache to recover device storage space.  The original image plus any edits, etc, continue to exist in cloud storage and can be retrieved any time even if the app is deleted and re-installed, or if you sign in on another mobile device.  The app automatically clears cache when device storage is low, but subscribed users can also manually clear app cache to recover device storage space.

Users of the free version of Lightroom Mobile do not sync to Lightroom's cloud storage.  So, each image that the app edits/imports exists both in the camera roll and also in the app cache, until the user deletes the image(s) from Lightroom. Until an image is deleted from the free app, there is no way to clear it from the app cache.
