Question

"Macintosh HD" is disconnected. Originals will be accessed through the cloud.

I have just downloaded and opened Lightroom.

There is a banner accross the top that says

"macintosh HD" is disconnected. Originals will be accessed through the cloud

I cannot find any reference to this error online so I thought I'd post the question here.

Any help or guidance appreciated.

I purchased a new MacBook and used Migration Assistance to port the contents of my old Mac to the new one.
Adobe Lightroom came with that error message on start.
I followed the proceedure to indicate a new location for the Adobe Lightroom in the Preferences-> Cache.
7 files are successfully found by the Lightroom in the new location on the local HD.
However, I decided to get rid of the Volume where the 2 files couldn't be found. This extra step eliminates the error message.

Did you perhaps move to a new computer? Or was your internal hard disk replaced by a new one? If so, then the link to where the local images are is still pointing to the hard disk of your old computer. In a rare case this may also happen if you did not move or replace the disk.

In Lightroom Preferences, go to Cache and click on the 'Browse' button. Select your Lightroom library, or the local folder you have defined as the location for local copies.

Thank you.  I was having the same issue (hard drive crashed - bought new iMac)!  This fixed the issue.  🙂
