Manditory update loses unsynced work

After working for days on a large batch of photos in Lightroom on my Android tablet, the app suddenly says that in order to keep using the app, I have to update it. I went ahead and updated it, and after reopening it, there was an announcement (with animated confetti) that the workflow now has improved and that it is no longer necessary to "Import" photos to Lightroom and that they can be edited where there are. While I welcome this change, it now appears that all of my previously imported files are simply gone without a trace. Adobe's support say if I don't have cloud syncing enabled, there's no way to retrieve the files.

Adobe honestly thinks that it's OK to roll out an update that:

a) doesn't allow the user to decide when to install it
b) deletes all imported files an edits that photographers could have spent countless hours on editing without possibility of retrieval and
c) doesn't even warn users beforehand that this might happen

To add insult to injury, the Adobe support rep I talked to didn't even apologize for it and simply pointed me to a Google website on how to backup and restore my tablet. How little their programmers must think of their Lightroom mobile users that they don't take the likelyhood of massive data loss serious enough to allow them to migrate their work to the new workflow...

But I guess the Industry Standard Behemoth Adobe can afford to get away with murder. We have to jump through their hoops at their whim anyway. Shame on you Adobe!!
