Mask problem in Lightroom desktop

Lightroom creative cloud does not allow subtraction of mask.

Can you share more details about the issue? Does this happen after a series of steps? What version of Lightroom and operating system are you using? Can you share screenshots or a screen recording of the issue?

It occurred after I had updated to the latest version. I had selected subject but could not subtract background or brush. However almost as soon as I had sent the post the error could not be repeated. Must have been something that was corrected when I reset the mask.
