Could you share a few more details about what’s happening? Specifically, what version of Lightroom you’re using, and what kind of mask you’re trying to create. Does the issue only happen with a certain type of mask?

If you’re able to share a screen recording showing the full screen while the issue occurs, that would really help us take a closer look.
