Migrating lightroom classic to CC: error in processing source data

Hi,

Starting a new discussion for this one, as the previous ones are quite old and unanswered.

I'm really in a bind here, as I've changed my subscription to stop using classic.

While trying to migrate my catalog, I get the above error.

It seems like there's one asset that causes the error because of conflicting metadata.

But how am I supposed to find out which asset that is?

I had the same problem. I realized that I had several folders with images missing, but the question mark did'nt show up on the folder, so I had to open it to find my missing folders. It was a lot of old stuff in ten year old folders. AFter realizing this I went to library module, hit library in the top bar and then hit missing photos. Thus I found over 8000 missing files. I knew I had these files on hard drives so I simply removed them from LR. I then backed up my catalog and tried the migrating proces again and it worked.

So even though the error code didn't point towards the problem being a so called conflict problem, indeed it seemed top be. Happy days.

In case somebody stumbles across this in the future:

I just experienced a similar "error in processing source data" error but in my case it was down to having some non-existent file locations in the catalog (meaning: one of the drives I had added to the library was long gone, I think it might've even pointed to a Windows file structure which I used before migrating to Mac a few years ago). Removing it from the catalog did the trick for me.

For what it's worth, the log posted by the OP seems to be showing a metadata conflict which wasn't resolved. In any case, I'd recommend analyzing the errors showed in the log file.

Hi Mohit Goyal, as I've described my issue in this thread, it's not like any of the known issues.

So I'm sorry, but none of the proposed workarounds or solutions worked.

Hoping you can help me going further.

Hi Jao vdL, thanks for your comment.

Sorry to say that, for now, it didn't help.

Holding the alt/option key did not raise a dialog, but I always check the integrity when backing up.

I also did the second part of your suggestion, but that didn't fix things.

The same error still occurs.

Hi, still without solution to my problem. This is really becoming a huge let down, as I'm not able to use my product as intended...

Can you open your catalog in Classic and hold the alt/option key? A dialog will come up where you can check the checkbox to "Test integrity of this catalog". Let it do its thing. When in Classic, select all your images and do a command-S (Mac) or ctrl-S (Windows). Wait until it finishes and quit out of the program. Now try the migration again.

We're really sorry for all the trouble. Could you please let us know the exact version of Lightroom Classic CC & Lightroom CC desktop installed on your machine? Are you trying to migrate the Lightroom catalog for the first time on your machine?

Have you tried migrating another Lightroom catalog to Lightroom CC? If yes, were you able to complete the migration?

Thanks for the reply (only saw it just now).

Both are updated to latest version I think:

- LR Classic: 7.4

- LR CC: 1.4

Yes, it's the first time I tried (though have tried multiple times afterwards.

Haven't tried migrating another catalog, as I don't have any.

Would appreciate the support.
