Hello

I have a small question , I  wanted to try the Lightroom application . I usually use lightroom classic .

But when i open the Lightroom app the modification are  not taken in account .

Is there a manipulation to do or a setting  to activate ? So it's the same on both ?

Correct answer Rob_Cullen

Thanks ,

i didn't expectthe additional manipulations . Slamm question as i don't use cloud what is the real difference between the 2 programs ?  except the different look

The differences are-

Lightroom is Cloud based.  (And is has a very limited 'Local' mode.)

Lightroom-Classic is Local based. (And it has other useful modules - Print, Map, Slideshow)

More details are required from you to determine how you are using Lightroom.

Firstly, Are you editing in 'Local' or 'Cloud' mode in Lightroom?

Are you placing photos in a Lightroom-Classic Collection to sync with the Cloud?

Are you Importing (Adding) photos to the Lightroom catalog?

Lightroom's primary function is a Cloud-based app. In 'Cloud' mode It references image files that have been imported (to the Lr cloud) with the Lightroom app.

Lightroom's secondary function is a 'Local' mode that lets you browse local folders and any edits are stored in XML data  (as a raw sidecar file, or embedded in RGB files)

Lightroom-Classic references files stored locally and, importantly- edits are stored in the local catalog, so you won't see them with Lightroom (unless you [Save metadata] to files).

So basically the two apps do not easily 'talk' to each other (edits in catalog / edits in XML), and you need further work to swap and view edits in both apps..

You have the following scenarios:

1) Sync a Collection of photos in Lightroom-Classic and view and edit these photos in Lightroom with 'Cloud' mode.  (Note: photos synced from LrC do not occupy any of your Cloud space.) Edits will automatically sync between LrC and Lr. -Easy.!  https://helpx.adobe.com/au/lightroom-classic/kb/sync-faq.html

2) Use the LrC functions to [Write metadata] and [Read metadata] to the same files that you wish to edit in 'Local' mode of Lightroom. -Complicated!

in the future, to find the best place to post your message, use the list here, https://community.adobe.com/

p.s. i don't think the adobe website, and forums in particular, are easy to navigate, so don't spend a lot of time searching that forum list. do your best and we'll move the post (like this one has already been moved) if it helps you get responses.
