Question

Move vs. Copy in Lightroom

Anyone else notice that you can no longer 'move' folders in Lr - now it will only 'copy' (for the record, before you can only move and not copy).

Anyone else notice this?  Has anyone figured out a way to move?

If you move a folder across volumes - in other words, to a different drive - Lr will copy the folder, just as the OS does. But if you move it to a different place on the same drive, it should move the folder.

Can you clarify which version of Lightroom you are referring to? You've posted this question in the Lightroom Ecosystem forum (which deals with the cloud-centric Lightroom apps), but from your description it sounds more likely that you are using Lightroom Classic?

No - I'm using Lr (as opposed to LrC) - latest version.  You can use the Local tab to copy a folder from one location to another, and I've been told that that is preferable on folders that you have already worked on.  Maybe it makes no difference and I should just use the Finder to move or copy.

OK. I don't use the Local option, but if I did want to move folders on disk around I'd probably just use Finder.
