Moved Lightroom cloud originals, updated setting, but it still can't find the originals

In Lightroom cloud, I moved my originals folder to a new larger drive. I went into cache settings and changed the Storage location for originals to the new location (the folder containing the "Lightroom CC" folder) but all my photos have a red dot that says "Original waiting to be moved". How to update the catalog to look at the new location?

Can you clarify the sequence of operations. Your post implies that you first moved the images from the current location to a new location outside Lightroom, after which you then updated the Preferences>Cache tab to tell Lightroom to use the new location for stored originals. Is that what you did? Or did you use the standard procedure, namely just changing the location in Preferences which allows Lightroom to move the images from old to new location?

That's an important distinction which might have a bearing on the issue that you are now experiencing.

BTW, are both disk drives (old and new locations) online?

Your understanding is correct. It was a very large amount of images so I
copied them first since it was more efficient to do that. I hoped I could
just change a setting and have it find the files in the new spot. I have
both drives online yes and both have copies.

Do your images still have the red dot on them?

Given that these are local copies, distinct from the master copies in the cloud, I assume that Lightroom Desktop can still function correctly, even though it's probably a little confused trying to move the images from the old location to the new location and finding that they already exist in the new location.

So, if the issue is still there, I suggest you temporarily uncheck the option to store a copy of the originals locally, then restart LrDesktop. After the restart is that red dot still appearing on the images? Check that the new location is still set in the Preferences>Cache tab, if so re-check that option and see how LrD responds to that.

There is a "nuclear option" of unchecking the option, then deleting the old and new local copies, then re-enabling the option again, but that's something you'd obviously want to avoid. So let's see if we can find a way to kick-start that copy first.
