Question

Moving Cloud images permanently to LR Classic

I know a lot has been written about this, but please help me with this very specific situation if you can.

When I travel with my laptop, I use a temporary catalog, then export and merge it with my home catalog when I return. Easy peasy.

This week I traveled with my iPad. I used a card reader to upload the images from my camera to Lightroom CC on the iPad, did some culling and editing. Now I am home. I see the photos in the collection "from Lightroom\ 2023 newborn baby. I would like to get the photos out of the synced photo folder/collection/album on to my computer in the same date-based file structure I use for everything else. I don't need to keep them in the cloud.

How should I do this?

Thanks.

In Lightroom Classic Preferences - Lightroom Sync you can set the destination folder for synced images and define a dated folder hierarchy, just like your hierarchy for images imported directly into Lightroom Classic. The 'From Lightroom' is just a collection set, so you can move collections to another set if you want to. This hierarchy does not sync (only collections sync) so the hierarchy on the iPad does not have to match the hierarchy in Lightroom Classic.

If you want to remove the images from the cloud completely, then remove them from the 'All Synced Photographs' collection in Lightroom Classic.
