Moving Lightroom to an external drive

Good morning Everyone,

 

I am in desperate need of help and I think it may be my own fault of when I setup Lightroom.  I have run our of space on my drive in my computer and slowly also my cloud storage.  I wasn't able to find how to purchase more online storage so I bought a 6TB external drive that I could move/backup my library to free up the space on my actual machine.  I've watched a few videos on it but still don't feel comfortable with this process as I don't want to lose data.  Can someone assist me with this?

Hi I'm using Adobe Photoshop Lightroom version5.3

I found an option of where to store your photos locally and it has my C drive listed and i have the option to move it but will it safely move my entire catalog from my c drive to the new external?

Please make sure to post the EXACT version of Lightroom you are using. The answer depends completely on what version of Lightroom you are actually using.
