Need Some Advice On Storage (Cloud Full)

Hello there,

I was hoping someone could provide me with some advice on some storage related things.

I edit almost exclusively with Lightroom CC (I have Classic but don't use it much) and I am running out of cloud space. I have a 1TB hard drive that I can back up my photos on.

My question is, should I export the photos from Lightroom CC to the hard drive and clear out the cloud or think about incorporating Classic more?

Also on the topic of exporting the files, would exporting as a raw + XMP file be the best move to preserve my edits or just export them as jpg?

Your solution is much simpler than that. Use Lightroom Classic to pull down everything from Lightroom by turning on the sync function. You can choose a location for the download in the Classic preferences. See my screenshot. I sync my Lightroom photos to an external drive. The downloaded photos are organized by dated folders. After the images have completed the sync to Classic, you can delete them from the Lightroom cloud. Even better, you will have all of the edit metadata in the Classic catalog and can continue to work on them if you like.
