New computer - loading lightroon 4.4

I spent the better part of the morning online with Adobe suport to get a copy of Lightroom 4.4 downloaded to my new computer. After completing that process, the system will only take my serial key as an "upgrade key" and is asking for my original key.  I have emails from the original purhcase with the key and registerd the product on Adobe with the same original key... Adobe help threw up their hands and said to post on this forum for assistance.  Please help
