Nikon D5600 Unable to Import

I own an Nikon D5600. I have been using Lightroom for over a year and only recently have run into issues (when previously I had no issues). I plug in my camera to laptop using a USB cable, turn on my camera and have been able to download my full shoots directly into Lr. I currently have Lr 7.0 and have been wildly unsuccessful in importing photos. Nothing has changed about my upload process yet I see "No images that can be imported were found in the selected source" when trying to upload images from my camera to laptop (Mac). 

Any advice? 

I have tried rebooting Lr, rebooting laptop, checking security preferences. Thank you!
