Not able to get LR to recognize a particular folder when browsing locally (Windows)

Question

For some reason, and all of a sudden, when trying to use LR's local browsing on my desktop (using Windows), LR doesn't seem to recognize a folder that's clearly viewable in Windows Explorer (whereas it recognizes various other folders), and from which files open. I'm almost positive I've browsed to that folder successfully in the past. Curious to know if anyone out there has any experience with that and how you resolved it.

The only variables I can think of are that I just downloaded the newer version (9.0) and the folder to which I'm trying to browse, instead of having the typical yellow file folder icon, has the icon for photos (but it's hard to believe LR, of all apps, would be struggling with that).

Could you share a bit more about what’s happening? When you say the folder has the icon for photos, what do you mean exactly? If possible, could you share a screenshot so we can take a closer look?
Also, please double-check the folder’s properties to make sure it isn’t hidden and that it has the necessary permissions.
