Not allowed to edit shared photos

A friend of mine and me recently made some cool photo's. We both have a subscription to Lightroom+Photoshop. He has allowed me to edit every photo, make new edit-versions of edits he has done previously etc. When I am on my phone I can, indeed, edit every photo, export them... the only thing I can't do is deleting and flagging them....

However; apparently I am not allowed to edit them on my Laptop, I get the notification that I am not allowed to edit the photos and only the owner of the album is allowed to edit the photo's. This is strange to me since he tells me that he has allowed me to do literally everything... does anyone know what to do?

What else have you tried?

Have you confirmed with your friend that he hasn't changed the share settings?

Have you checked that syncing is still enabled in Lightroom on the laptop?

Have you tried rebooting and restarting?

On the laptop, in the Shared With You album list, does the shared album have the "Can Edit" icon showing as per the highlighted icons in this screenshot:

Yeah we actually visited shortly after and he showed me all the settings and they seemed fine. As a test he created a new album with around 5 RAW files and shared it with me again. This new album didn't give any problems and was editable on both my laptop and phone... So maybe it was just a bug. Just to be sure I restarted my computer completely, checked for updates and ended all windows processes regarding Adobe... Hope it doesn't happen again because the assignment for the first album where we ran into these issues was quite an important one!

Is that original album still causing problems, or have you given up on it? Did he try to unshare the album, wait for that to syncm, then try again with sharing it to you with edit enabled?

editors not being able to flag and delete them is a problem too imo. It'd help me so much if I could just show 'flagged by 'person X''. Especially when you're working with multiple people and they need to show their favourites. Also, when an album is shared with you and you're not allowed to do something; a button to ask permission to the owner of the album would help a lot as well.

There's an existing feature request in this forum asking for options to allow this functionality as well as image editing by the people that albums are shared with. I suggest you add your vote: https://community.adobe.com/t5/lightroom-ecosystem-cloud-based-ideas/p-make-all-contributors-able-to-pick-flag-images/idi-p/12972572
