Older JPEG files giving "this folder does not contain editable files" message in Local Browse

Using Adobe Lightroom Desktop (7.1.2) on a Macbook M1 Air (Sonoma 14.2).

Trying to edit a bunch of older JPEG scans in Local Browse from an SSD, and I get a message saying "this folder does not contain editable files".

1. The files open fine in Lightroom Classic (13.0.1) and show up in Preview on the Mac.

2. I can sync the file between LRC and Lightroom

Any thoughts as to what I could try?

FIXED:

The original JEPG's had been scanned in sRGB IEC61966-2.1. I exported them from LR Classic in Adobe RGB (1998) at 100% quality and then showed up in Lightroom in Local Browse.
