Question

Paste settings are freezing

I am a headshot photographer.  I crop one headshot and then copy that shot and batch paste the other headshots.  I have been able to do this, as soon as I have uploaded my images into Lightroom, as the photos are syncing.  Recently I haven’t been able to do this.  I have to wait until all the images are totally synced to the Cloud.  If I don’t wait, the paste settings freeze (where the blue status bar stops half way and doesn’t move) and the paste setting have only affected a few images leaving the other images untouched.  I have to quit Lightroom to reset everything.  This is really frustrating and time consuming when I have a lot of team headshots to crop and edit.  Not sure why this has started happening recently?  Any ideas?

Hi @Georgie Greene, Welcome to the Lightroom Community forum! To better help you with this issue, we would like a few more details. Can you send your system info, a screen recording of the issue, and a numbered list of the exact steps needed to reproduce it? You can find your system info by going to Help > System Info, copying and pasting it into a text file, and attaching it here.

In the meantime, you can try these steps and see if it helps:

    1. Update to the latest version (currently 9.5) — multiple paste-related fixes have shipped this year
    2. Increase your Camera Raw cache size: Settings > Local Storage > set cache to at least 10 GB (a small cache can cause stalls during batch operations)
    3. Avoid navigating/scrolling during paste: Moving between Loupe and Grid while paste is in progress can cause the operation to hang
    4. Restart before large batch pastes: A fresh launch clears any stale image states that can trigger the stall

If none of these steps work for you, we can continue to troubleshoot. I hope this helps! ^CH
