My computer crashed so i have had to restart from the beginning. I have downloaded LR CC again but it has no photos on it. Is there a way to recover these?

    I think im in trouble then. I was hoping they would be still on Lr. I think i was using Lr 6 but went to the cloud based one this year. Never saved anything to the cloud though. Does it do it automatically?


    If you went to the cloud-based one this year then any images that you downloaded or imported into Lightroom CC should still be in the cloud. But I'm not an expert in Lightroom CC. I wouldn't be the one to tell you how to bring those onto your computer because I'm much more familiar with Lightroom Classic CC. If you say that you never uploaded anything to the cloud then I don't know what to suggest to you.

    Had you used Lightroom CC (the cloud-based version) previously? Had you uploaded images to the cloud before your computer crashed?

    Hi im not sure if it was cloud based or not. Not sure how to use the cloud so probably not. Is there a way of checking.

    The only reason I asked is because you posted your question in the Lightroom CC forum. Lightroom CC is the cloud-based version of Lightroom. And if you don't know then you probably were using Lightroom 6 or some previous version of Lightroom. That is only a guess however. Images are not in Lightroom. Lightroom functions as a database manager, operating around a catalog. In order for you to get your images back you would need the images that you had before in their folders on your computer, and you would need the catalog that you were using before. The catalog would need to point to or reference the same images in the same folders on the same hard drive in order to simply get those images "back" into Lightroom without any extra work. I don't know if this helps or answers your question at all. Do you have your old catalog? Do you still have the images that you had before? Are they still in the same folders that they were in before? Do you know what version of Lightroom you had previously?
