Photos not uploading because Macintosh HD is "full"

Can someone help me please? When I try to upload new photos into Lightroom it tells me that theres no space on my Macintosh HD, but when I check my space in my macbook settings I still have storage. Does anyone know why its telling me this and how can I fix it. Its getting to the point where I can barely open lightroom without it crashing on me.
