Photoshop not coming to foreground when opening images from Lightroom

Since upgrading to Mchip macbook recently whenever I  open a file from LR to PS (cmd+E) the file opens in PS as normal but PS stays in the background instead of automatically coming to the front. Very annoying when working through 100s of images in a day. It's never been like this in the 15 years I've been using LR&PS. I can't figure out where to find a relevant setting in either LR or PS to change. Must be so simple. Any ideas out there?
