PNG images loose transparency when imported to LR or LRC

My PNG images are losing transparency when imported to LR or LRC.  I am using a desktop.

    This is not a bug. Moving to discussions.
    Lightroom does not support the rendering of transparent portions of PNG images as transparent.  Transparency is rendered as solid white.
