Question

Problem importing images from SD card

Lightroom (installed from App Store) cannot import images directly from SD card. By browsing the SD card Lightroom finds the images and is able to import them. In the system security and privacy settings Lightroom has full disc access. I've also tried only to allow to access the SD card but it doesn't work neither. Restarting the computer and Lightroom multiple times doesn't change anything. My wife uses a similar configuration and is not able to import her images from a Sony Alpha IV. She has to browse the SD card to import the images, too. This problem exists for a long time now, even on newly installed MacOS, but eventually I wanted to report it. Maybe it's only a issue on installations from the App Store.

Thank you very much.

Hey, @Thomas Babut. Welcome to the Lightroom Community. I'll help you figure this out.

Does this happen only when you import from the SD Card? Have you tried installing Lightroom via the Creative Cloud?

As a test, try installing Lightroom from the Creative Cloud desktop app: https://adobe.ly/4330USC

Also, you must allow Full Disk access to this variant of the Lightroom desktop by removing previous items from the list and adding them again.

It'll help us determine if it's an issue with the Mac App Store and unlock your usage.

If it works, and you'd still like to go back to Lightroom from Mac App Store, you can clear Creative Cloud entirely using the CC Cleaner: https://adobe.ly/4gUbD7Q

Let me know how it goes.

Thanks!

I have removed Lightroom from full disc access completely, readded the app from Programs and reenabled full disc access. After restarting Lightroom and even the computer it still doesn't work the way it should.

Importing from SD card works in general, but not the direct way through connected devices. You have to browse the SD card in order to find the pictures to import. If it worked the direct way, Lightroom would also eject automatically the SD card after importing the selected pictures.

Maybe I'll try installing Lightroom from Creative Cloud, but not right now. Sorry 🙂

Sure! Let me know how it goes if you get to try Lightroom via the Creative Cloud. Thanks!
