Question

PSF Files and Lightroom

I am going to start printing images at a printshop. I asked for the printer/paper icc profiles. All they have is psf files for use with Photoshop (which I believe may have the icc embedded in them). They think that these will not work in LR. As I currently only used LR I was wondering if it's possible to somehow extract the icc profiles from a psf file in a format suitable for LR. I googled this and there is nothing that I could find on the topic. Does anyone have any experience in this? Thanks

I have never dealt with PSF files. I don't know anything about them. I don't know how to respond to your question. Keep watching this thread. Hopefully someone with more knowledge than I have will be able to help you. Sorry.

What do you use to create PSF files to send to this lab? My version of Photoshop Won't create that file format.

I am not creating a psf file. The file presented to me by the printershop
for profiling the printer/paper is a psf file rather than an icc file.

Are you certain about the file extension, PSF? Photoshop doesn't even save images in that format. Is it possible that you mean PSD? I don't think I have ever seen a PSF file format. Or, it could be PDF that they are requiring.

    Hi Jim,

No. These are definitely PSF files, not the PSD image files that PS
creates. Following is part of the text from the
printshop...................."Please find attached soft proof setups for
premium lustre, art and metallic. These are .psf files that can be loaded
into Photoshop that have the icc profiles embedded in them. I haven't
checked the latest update for Lightroom, but as far as I am aware they only
    work in Photoshop."

So I am trying to determine if LR can use these files and if not can I
    extract the icc profiles.

My other option is to see why the print lab can't provide the required info
    in a LR friendly format.

Let me move this to the Lightroom forum for you, which I think is the appropriate forum for your question.

The Using the Community forum is for help in using the Adobe Support Community forums, not for help with specific programs. Product questions should be posted in the associated product community.
