Question About Generative Remove Feature in Lightroom on iPhone

Hello,

I would like to ask a question about the Generative Remove feature in Lightroom on iPhone.

I have subscribed to Lightroom Premium on my iPhone. However, I noticed that the Remove / Erase tool does not work very well and seems to be the traditional removal tool, not the Generative Remove feature.

I have seen online posts and videos where other users, who also have a Premium subscription, are using Generative Remove on their iPhones. But I cannot find this feature in my app.

Could you please let me know:

  • Is Generative Remove available on Lightroom for iPhone?

  • If yes, does it require a specific app version, region, or additional setting?

  • Or did I miss something in my subscription or app configuration?

Thank you very much for your help.

Hi Anshul Saini,

Thank you for Info. That might be where the issue lies, although what’s strange is that I subscribed through the Apple App Store, my App Store region is Germany, and I paid in euros, so it never even occurred to me that this could be a regional restriction.

In any case, thank you very much. I’ll try contacting customer support to change the region and then give it another try!

Best regards

Hey @Utopie

Since you do have an active sub I recommend reaching out to our Chat Support team for real-time assistance. You can contact them by clicking the three dots here: https://adobe.ly/4jodKls

There is a way to change your region on your own, but you would need to have no active subscriptions. Her is an article that may help in the future: https://adobe.ly/4qEArnW

Let us know if you're able to resolve the issue. 🙂

Also, check if you have the other Premium Features available and Restore Purchase if you don't (both outlined in this link here: https://helpx.adobe.com/uk/lightroom-cc/kb/lightroom-mobile-in-app-purchase-issue.html)

Thank you very much for your help.

Here is some additional information:

  • App version: 11.1.0 (3C5B0/224) — App Store shows it is the latest version

  • Device: iPhone 15 Pro

  • Subscription status: shows “You are subscribed” in the in-app settings

I’m able to edit RAW files on my iPhone, so other Premium features seem to be working correctly. That’s why I’m unsure why the Generative Remove feature is not available in my app.

For reference, I subscribed directly within the iOS app via the App Store, not through the Adobe website. Could this affect the availability of Generative Remove?

Any clarification would be appreciated. Thank you.

Hi @Utopie,

Thanks for sharing the details. Based on what you've described and after checking internally, here's the clarification.

• Generative Remove is available on Lightroom for iPhone, including on iPhone 15 Pro, and your app version and subscription are correct
• However, Generative AI features are currently not available in China, including Generative Remove, due to regional availability restrictions
• When an Adobe account is associated with China as the country/region, generative features are automatically disabled, even if the subscription is active and other Premium tools work normally

This explains why you're seeing the standard Remove tool instead of the Generative Remove tool.

If this no longer applies to you, you can change country on your Adobe ID, as outlined here. If you've moved to a different country, you can request a change to your Adobe ID country.

Things to verify after a country change request, if applicable:

• Your Adobe account country is updated to a supported region
• Your iPhone region is not set to China
• Your network or ISP is not routing traffic through China
• Lightroom is reinstalled after signing in with the updated account

I hope this clears things up for you.

Best regards,
Anshul Saini

@Utopie

Which version of the Lightroom Mobile do you have installed and are there any updates available?

Also which iPhone are you using? (Although I'm unsure if it's limited to certain devices)
