Question about importing content from Apple Photo and ongoing imports from same into LightRoom

Hi,

I am a new user and have a question about uploading content.  I have both an Nikon DSLR which I use and also an iPhone.  My iPhone syncs to iCloud automatically like most everyone else.  I have a large Photo library on my Macbook which I want to selectivly import to LightRoom.  I have not seen a method of doing this yet in LR.  I could import the entire Photos lib and then selectively delete the old photos which I don't want to edit/keep.

I've noticed that if I import the entire Photos library, I cannot do that again which is a problem.  My concern is that while I want to import my old library for editing, etc into LightRoom, I still want to be able to import my future iPhone photos into LR.  From my Nikon, I can simply import from its SD card, so that's not an issue.

What's the best method of doing this?
