Rating Photos with Keyboard doesn't work. sometimes.

Thanks for reporting this. I understand how frustrating that is, especially after rating hundreds of photos. Since a restart temporarily fixes it and the issue appears randomly, this typically points to something interfering with keyboard input rather than a core Lightroom feature consistently failing. This is a generic macOS issue.

A few things to check when this happens:

* Close any apps, menu items, or running processes in the background.

• Click once on the photo/grid area before pressing 1–5. Also, check if the issue happens only after using a specific panel (e.g., Presets, Crop, Text fields).

• If you’re using any plugins, try temporarily disabling them (File > Plug-in Manager)

• If using an external keyboard, try switching to the built-in keyboard (or vice versa)
 

Also, to help us narrow this down further:

• Which Lightroom version are you using (Help > System Info)?

• Does this happen in Grid view, Loupe view, or both?
 

If you can record a brief screen recording when the issue occurs, that would really help us understand what's going on. Remember to enable the on-screen keyboard while recording so we can see which keys you're pressing and what happens in Lightroom during that time.
