Question

RAW photos get cropped a little when importing into Lightroom..

Hello!

Just took my first raw photos out in Death Valley. I have a sony camera 6400 and saved the photos in my G-Drive. Saw the comparison between the raw and jpg so immediately I was excited to get to editing. Once I added the raw photos into lightroom, they seemed to look skinnier then what they looked like on my G-Drive. So while comparing them side by side, I was right, the photos in lightroom had been cropped a little but that little is what I want in my photos! Went to add them again but the same thing happened. It happened in Photoshop too. I can't seem to find an answer on youtube or google. Hoping to find an answer here. Please and thank you!

Open one of the raw files in the Develop module's Crop tool, then click on the Reset button in the Crop panel. Does that revert the image to the full resolution that you were expecting? If it does, the likely explanation is that you have set a different crop ratio in the camera that LrC is honoring during the import. Restting the crop in those circumstances should revert to the original native resolution.
