Reassigning photos from a broken hard drive to the new one

Hi there 

Please would someone kindly help me to change how Lightroom recognized my pics on a new hard drive once they had been recovered from the old one I dropped.

You posted this in the Lightroom ecosystem forum, which is the cloud version. The cloud version uses the cloud to store its originals, so there is nothing you need to do. Just launch Lightroom, login and you are good to go.

 

If you are using Lightroom Classic or its predecessor, then the easiest method is to give the new disk the exact same name as the old one. If your recovered images are in the the same folder hierarchy, then that is all you need to do. If they are in a different hierarchy then you may have to do a lot of work. Check this out:
