Question

Reconnect to Finish syncing

Issue: I purchased a new MacBook Pro 14-inch 2023 and transferred everything over from my MacBook Pro 13-inch, 2017, Two Thunderbold 3 ports.  Lightroom worked fine on my 2017 MacBook pro, but when I open Lightroom on my new MacBook Pro, a red bar is at the top of the Lightroom screen that says “”Macintosh HD” is disconnected.  Please reconnect to finish syncing”.  The cloud in the upper right-hand corner of the screen has a red exclamation mark and when I click on it there is a message that says “Unsynced Offline Drive”.  However, I do not use an offline drive.

I have done the following to try and resolve the issue, but nothing has helped:

  • Reboot MacBook Pro
  • Uninstall and reinstall Lightroom
  • Called Apple support, but they were unable to help stating that it is the third party software causing the issue, not the hardware
  • Reset the local cache by deleting Macintosh HD / Users / [username] / Pictures / Lightroom Library.lrlibrary

Following is the information about my MacBook Pro and lightroom:

  • Lightroom Version Number: version 6.3.1
  • OS Version Number: macOS Ventura 13.4
  • MacBook Pro:
    • MacBook Pro 14-inch, 2023
    • Chip Apple M2 Pro
    • Memory 16 GB

What else can I do to resolve this issue so that Lightroom doesn't think that my hard drive is offline?

Hi there,

I'm not sure if you fixed this very odd problem, but I had the exact same problem with a brand new Macbook Pro 2023 today which I freshly installed lightroom onto. My photos were originally uploaded to adobe cloud/lightroom via my other Mac and I could see that they were all there using lightroom for web.

Fortunately adobe support managed to fix this issue for me...it took them a while, so it wasn't a simple fix. Initially they thought is was due to some unsynced corrupted photos that were in the unsynced section of the lightroom web app. Secondly they thought there wasn't enough space on my computer - but that didn't make sense as I was using another laptop before with the exact same space.  In the end they found out the lightroom library.lrlibrary folder was missing (they said it was deleted, but I hadn't deleted any folders as the machine was brand new, and lightroom had the issue from the moment I first installed and opened it). As it was a remote screenshare support session I'm not 100% sure what he did to get the folder back, but it worked! So if you share this fix with remote support then they may be able to help you - Nikhil was the support person who fixed it for me 🙂

Hope you find this helpful

I'm having the exact same issue and can't seem to find a solution. Would love it if someone had some advice for the previous poster.
