Question

Resize or change photo dimensions in Lightroom 5.3 for mac

How do I change an image size and or dimensions before exporting? My images have to be  a maximum of 1100 pixels wide. The file size must not exceed 1.5MB (megabytes) or be smaller than 15kb (kilobyte).

Thank you

Did you have any luck with this? I have been trying to resize my images using the custom settings when exporting but when the image exports it ends up being the orginal size so wondering what exactly the point of that option even is?

There is no way to predetermine the  'Megabyte' size of an exported file.

You have three options for 'Dimensions:'

If you select "Custom"- You then have two options that will control the megabyte size of an exported image and they are-

-Long Side:  xxxx pixels, and

-Quality:  xx%

The file megabyte size will only be obvious in the exported file. Change the export parameters if not within your desired MB size range and re-export.

You must of course be exporting to an RGB pixel image (JPG, TIF, etc).   If the 'Image Type: is set to 'Original + Settings' you will, to be expected, get the same size  image as the original.

You cannot change "Before" exporting, but you can Export the new derivative file with 'Custom Settings'-

There is no field to state a limit for MB/KB file size, but experiment with Custom Dimensions and Quality.
